John Cartwright's TheCreativeEye
From graphic design media and marketing to portraits on a gallery wall, creativity has the power to make us laugh, cry, persuade and buy.
Hello! I'm John, and I've spent my career bringing ideas to life – from helping businesses tell their stories through design to capturing quiet moments in photographs.
Over the years, I've worn many hats: graphic designer, creative director, artworker, tea-boy and tutor. While I am known for my commercial work with both global brands and local businesses, this site opens the barn door to my personal collection of photography, illustrations, and artwork – pieces I've kept mostly closed until now.
Not everything needs a commercial purpose, sometimes art is just about exploring – seeing what happens when you push colour a bit further, experiment with form, play with materials. These pieces are personal explorations, experiments in creativity. But funny thing is... they often end up inspiring the commercial work later on!
These days, you'll find me in my studio in beautiful South West Wales, where I work independently with clients near and far. Whether you need a complete brand overhaul or a single piece of design work, I'm here to help bring your vision to life – either remotely or on-site.
When I'm not designing, you'll find me sharing my corner of Wales with my wife Tina and our regular visitors from the local wildlife.
Explore my creative work across different disciplines, discovering projects that showcase my passion, expertise, and approach to design, art, and storytelling.
A personal and unique touch helps add value and originality. It can also bring a smile to the face when the message is 'got'.
This is where I play. No briefs, no boundaries, just pure exploration of what happens when pencil meets paper, when colour collides with form.
There's something about photography that's different from other art forms. You're there, in that exact moment, and then it's gone.
Where imagination meets reality. Before the paint dries, before the event happens, before anything is built – you need to SEE it.
Having a vision is one thing. Helping others see that vision? That's where storyboards and moodboards come in. They help knit everything together.
Cost-effective visual communication solutions that simplify complex concepts for marketing, presentations, reports, and digital content.
"Thank you time and again understanding complex graphics requirements for pitches, working long hours without complaint... and producing inspirational hand drawn visuals... thank you, thank you!"

"You take an initial idea and add your creative and visual flair to make it even better than ever expected. There's always an element of excitement when awaiting a new design and you never can guess what's coming after you've finished adding your ideas."

"The logo looks good. Great job! I'm already fond of your design skills and the ability to understand requirements."
